2 Problems With Your Eyeglasses That Should Be Fixed By An Optical Product Repair Technician

Posted on: 25 January 2023

If you have been wearing your eyeglasses for a while, you may have noticed that they do not fit as well as they did when you first purchased them. You may find that you constantly have to push them back up onto the bridge of your nose or reposition them on your face because they are sitting crooked.

To help make the eyeglasses fit, you may be tempted to try to rebend the arms or tighten all of the screws. However, you may end up breaking something or making the problem worse. There are a couple of problems with your eyeglasses that you should instead leave to be fixed by an optical product repair technician.

1. Arms Have Become Loose Enough They Do Not Hold the Glasses Firmly in Place on Your Face

One problem you may be having while wearing your eyeglasses is that the arms seem to be too loose.

There are a couple of possible causes for these problems, the first of which is that the screws are stripped and not able to stay tight. These screws may need to be replaced with a size that will stay in place without stripping the holes.

Second, the arms themselves may have become warped, making them unable to maintain a tight fit. The repair technician can remold the arms and bend them properly back into place.

2. Nose Pieces Are So Loose and Misaligned They Are Digging into the Sides of Your Nose

Another issue you may have with your eyeglasses is that the nose pieces have become loose and/or misaligned. Whenever you take off your glasses, you may find that one or both sides of your nose have imprints where the pieces are digging into the skin.

When nose pieces become loose, this issue is typically caused by strain on their connectors every time you put on or take off your glasses. The technician may need to remove the nose pieces so they can be repositioned and soldered back into place.

When the arms on your eyeglasses are loose and do not hold the eyewear firmly in place, the screws may be stripped or the arms themselves warped, requiring a professional to fix the issue. If the nose pieces are loose and/or misaligned, they may need to be repositioned and soldered back into place. If you have either of these issues or another one with your eyeglasses, take them to a shop that offers optical product repair service to have a technician take a look at them and fix whatever problem they may find.
